I can't begin to describe how happy we are that Mecca has come to live with us. Thank you, Cravers! We first fell in love with her when we met her on our trip to pick up Retorte. It's taken a while but she's here with us. She had a gorgeous, independant, cute as a bug bay filly by Monologue in September 2006. One week after Zadah was born, Mecca began showing signs of a uterine infection. After five intensive care days, five different antibiotics, IV fluids twice a day and hand feeding, her fever finally broke. There was a point when I thought that we would lose her. I spoke with the Charles Craver every day for moral support and to make sure we were doing everything we possibly could. In the end, that stubborn little baby was able to keep nursing. We finally figured out how to get her to eat from us and she continued to nurse from Mecca, keeping that milk, however poor it was, coming. We are so very glad to still have both of them with us.
