Samaara was our first foal ever.  She will live her life with us no matter what.  Period.  Once upon a time, we had her for sale for a ridiculous price but now we wouldn't take all the tea in China for her.  She has the heart of a true endurance horse and the sweet disposition of the tent dwelling horses of the desert.  She has a very nice season in 2006 so far--knock on wood!  Adam plans to ride her in the AHA National Championship at the Pac North ride in September on the 50 mile ride.  And do the 80 at Santiam Cascade this year.  That was the ride their first season where Samaara bowed both her front tendons in the sand.  We took her to our vet and said "Tell us what to do and we'll do it."  Six months later, she was back in conditioning.  Next year, after the AERC National Championship ride in Idaho, she will get a much deserved rest and get to be a mom.  We plan on breeding her to Retorte.

From their record, you can see that Adam and Samaara have learned quite a bit.  Being our first endurance horse, Samaara has surely endured more than her share of newbie problems.  So far, things are going well this year.  Adam and Samaara are riding their own ride each time.  Adam has found that going too slow will hurt Samaara probably more than going too fast.  They must go their own pace.  We're excited about the rest of the season.
